For three years the Burroughs Community Center has worked with the Tauck Foundation to offer a summer travel experience to middle school students.  This year 25 students will spend seven days in California focusing on “the immigrant experience”.  Travelers have been working towards the trip for six months with weekly sessions led by Burroughs staff.  They have benefited from team building exercises and professionally developed curriculum about the historical and cultural significance of the locations they will visit.  The Fairfield County Community Foundation’s grant will support the supplies, equipment, staffing and other materials needed to prepare for and enjoy the travel experience.  Burroughs Executive Director Kevin Simmons said that “the support of the Fairfield County Community Foundation is greatly appreciated and has helped us provide a very well rounded program for these kids as they prepare for one of the most exciting weeks of their young lives”.  For more information on the Center, call (203) 334-0293 or visit their website at www.BurroughsCC.org
