Ash Creek Channel Dredging in March

Dredging of the channel to the South Benson Marina will begin the first or second week of March.  The Town of Fairfield has hired Julian Construction as their contractor.  The project will finish by the end of March.  Most of the dredging will be conducted from the Fairfield side, but there will be a machine on the the Bridgeport side.  It will not be located near the plantings.

Spring Clean Up at St. Mary's on April 7

Please join the Spring clean up activities at St. Mary's-by-the-Sea and Ash Creek on Saturday, April 7th at 9 AM at the St. Mary's beach.  Bring garbage bags and wear long pants/sleeves and gloves (poison ivy).   Peggy Ianniello, Roger Ludwig, and Martha Turner have organized the event once again this year.  Let's give them a hand and have fun while we do it!

Ash Creek Spring Clean Up 2011

The Ash Creek Conservation Association had a great turnout on their April 9th Spring Clean Up of Ash Creek with over 40 participants. Special thanks to Martha Turner and Peggy Ianniello for organizing and marketing the event, Mary Erkan, ACCA's Secretary, for manning the table; John Gibson, ACCA Board Member, for helping Black Rock School students; Mary Jane Foster for providing refreshments; Mayor Finch for pitching in with the clean up; and Roger Ludwig, ACCA Board Member, for coordinating the event with Save the Sound, and Matt Wagner for taking the photos of the event.

DEP Reverses Decision on Toner Dock

Toner Dock            In its last update on June 24, 2009, the Ash Creek Conservation Association announced they had won a major victory with regards to the Toner dock application.  The permit to build the 60 foot dock which would berth a 24 foot powerboat was denied by the DEP Adjudications Office in a Proposed Final Decision issued on June 23, 2009.  This was an important ruling because it would not o
