The Black Rock Community Council is sponsoring a fundraiser for the Black Rock Day Parade on Saturday, May 3rd from 7-11 PM at the S.S. Norden Club, 4 Seabright Avenue. The evening will include: hearty appetizers from local restaurants, open bar (beer, wine, & soda), mustic by DJ Jim Dunn, and a retrospective of past parades on the big screen TV. There will also be a Silent Auction featuring items donated by local businesses and residents. $20 for members/$25 non-members. Pay at the door.
The Black Rock Community Council invites everyone to meet at the flagpole at Brewster Street and Grovers Avenue for the annual tree lighting ceremony to kick off the holiday season and see Santa. The annual tree lighting ceremony sponsored by the Black Rock Community Council will take place on Sunday, December 2nd at 5 pm at the Brewster Street Flagpole. Local school children will perform and Santa will arrive on board Ladder 11 thanks to the Bridgeport Fire Department. Refreshments will be served. This year's Christmas Tree for the annual tree lighting ceremony is being donated by J.P. Philbin's Nursery, a brand new business coming to Black Rock in the Spring of 2013.
The October meeting of the Black Rock Community Council Safety Committee (BRCC Block Watch) will consist of a community meeting to discuss public safety concerns. The forum will consist of Mayor Bill Finch, Black Rock State Representative and City Council members, and members of the Bridgeport Police Department.
