News release from State Rep. Auden Grogin... The construction for the Black Rock School expansion broke ground yesterday, moving towards the goal of a new K-8 community school. As many of you know, State Rep. Auden Grogins worked hard to secure $10 million in school construction funding in 2011, with an additional $2 million provided by the city for a total of $12 million. The project, consists of an 18,000 square-foot addition includes 10 new classrooms, a multipurpose room that can serve as an assembly space or gym, and two new playgrounds. Other upgrades and improvements are also planned to the fire protection, lighting, and energy management systems.

Please accept the following corrected information on the Black Rock School project. Black Rock School will be expanded to serve pre-kindergarten through 8th grade, not kindergarten through 8th grade. The Black Rock School project is expected to be completed by September 2014, with pre-kindergarten projected to begin then as well.
