Congratulations to the following Black Rock winners in Volume I of Best of Fairfield County Weekly 2012 poll. We really do have the best of the best in Black Rock, all within walking distance of the new Fairfield Metro train station.
An RFP (Request for Proposal) has been sent out to do a feasibility study on a pedestrian bridge linking Black Rock to the new Fairfield Metro Train Station. This would be an exciting development as it would create a more direct access to the train station from the southwestern section of Black Rock. The Fairfield Metro train station would be within walking distance for many more Black Rockers as they could cross Ash Creek at the end of Fox Street.
Black Rock Garden Club members spent the better part of last Sunday morning weeding and sprucing up the Reading Garden at the Black Rock Branch. The Black Rock Garden Club has been instrumental in the creation and maintainence of the Reading Garden and we look forward to holding many events in the garden over the next few months – the highlight of which will be the the Black Rock Garden Party hosted by the Garden Club on Saturday, July 14th. Stay tuned for more details.
Regular train service began from the Fairfield Metro Station on Monday, December 5. According to the MTA website thisis the first new main line station in Fairfield County on the New Haven Line in more than a century.
