Boats Damaged by Storm in Black Rock Harbor

The rainy weather caused problems for boats moored in Black Rock Harbor today. A total of 15 boats crashed onto rocks or are now on land. The yacht club says the high tide and swell in the harbor caused boats to come loose from their moorings.  More than half of the boats have now been recovered, and according to news coverage on Channell 12 owners say damage estimates range from a few thousand to a few hundred thousand dollars.

Want to learn Italian but never had a chance?  Going to Italy soon?  A weekly series of  conversational Italian classes will be offered during the month of October at the Black Rock Branch starting on Wednesday October 6th. Classes will run from October 13th to October 27th from 7:30 to 8:30 PM at the Black Rock Library.

Ash Creek Fall Clean Up Was Successful

Free Rain Barrels from City of Bridgeport

Rain barrel distribution for City of Bridgeport (North End, Black Rock Residents, West Side, etc.) Hosts:  Lisa Miro, Conservation Director for the City of Bridgeport and Donna Curran, Development Director at The Discovery Museum. Date: Saturday, September 25th, 2010Time:  Noon-2PMPlace:  The Discovery Museum at 4450 Park Avenue in Bridgeport Roll out the barrels!  The Mayor’s Conservation Corps, under the direction of Lisa Miro, have retrofitted over 500 rain barrels that are waiting to find homes.
