Black Rock Library - Poetry Reading with M.L. Brooks

Poetry Reading with M.L. Brooks on Tuesday, August 17th at 6:30 PM at the Black Rock Branch Library.  Poetry and book signing.  Poet ML Brooks will read selections from Feelings So Deep, her recently published book. Signed copies will be available for purchase.

St. Mary's-by-the-Sea Walk With Harold and Friends

Walk with Harold & Friends is back!  Join us Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010, at the St. Mary's-by-the-Sea beach in Black Rock, CT. Noon registration, 12:30 walk time. Dog fair booths until 3.  Walk with your dog for one mile along scenic St. Mary's-by-the-Sea to benefit Milford Hospital's cancer education programs and the Bridgeport animal shelter.  Vendors, prizes for top dogs, food and refreshments and more.  T-shirt for the first 200 entries. Black Rock Public Library Board Meeting to Be Held at Black Rock Branch

The July meeting of the Bridgeport Public Library Board of Directors wiil be held 7:00 PM Wednesday July 21st at the Black Rock Branch Library, 2705 Fairfield Avenue. The public will have the opportunity to address the Board during the Public Comment session at the start of the meeting.

Black Rock Paintings Coming Home

                                                                                                 The four watercolor paintings of Black Rock that hung in the Black Rock Branch for years are coming home after a 7 year absence.

In 1935 Bethel, CT artist Rolston Keeler completed these works for the WPA Federal Art Project. They depict scenes of Black Rock and St. Mary’s as they appeared in a bygone era. Please join us at our 1st Annual Black Rock Block Party and welcome a part of Black Rock History home.

BRCC Public Safety Committee Meeting

The Public Safety Committee of the Black Rock Community Council will be hosting a meeting with Officer Nick Ortiz of the Bridgeport Police Community Services Division this Saturday, July 17th at the Burroughs Community Center beginning at 10 AM. Officer Ortiz will review with residents appropriate actions and procedures for enhancing personal safety.
